![]() Leigh Nash of Sixpence None The Richer never sounded so good as her sample on "Innocente" and Morel and Espiritu lend the perfect come-down to this heavenly mix. Things level off with the bleepy apocalyptic mixes of "Afrika" and "I Wish You Were Here". The atmosphere builds through some driving progressive house to a beautifully trippy remix of Dusted's "Always Remember to Respect & Honour Your Mother" to the peak explosiveness of Greed's "Strangeworld" where the powerful sub-bass hits you like a freight train. The journey begins at the most minimial level, with the stunningly soothing vocal of Julie McKnight singing King's of Tomorrow's "Finally". To do it any other way would be like taking a quote out of the context of a conversation, it doesn't have the same meaning. This CD not just should be, but DEMANDS to be listened to from beginning to end with no pauses or skips. Deep Dish shows you how being a DJ is not just about being able to mix two tracks together (which they happen to so superbly), but to take the listener on a journey. ![]() This, in my opinion, is one of the, if not the best mix of progressive house and trance I have ever heard. This is where you'll find your hard-earned money was well spent. However, some of the tunes can tend to wear out their welcome and can sometimes lead me to reach for the skip button. For what it is, it is a very good mix of chill-out house music which would be perfect for the drive home from a long night of partying. I started off by listening to disc 1 (called Westcoast). Let me start off by saying that I was not immediately taken by this CD set. From lighter sounds to darker moods, Deep Dish whip up a mix miles better than the first. ![]() Neither record offers the energy rush expected from dance music, yet Yoshiesque 2 never fails to captivate. Take note, though, the last few tracks bump up the attitude for folks who would actually dance to this stuff.ĭisc two dives into bleak disco, the Cass and Slide VS Meat Katie remix of "So Strong" a leading primer, as are the sullen synths of Loudeast "Lights Off." The chill chic thump of John Creamer & Stephane K `I wish you were here" and queasy bass of Morel "Funny car" offer capping highlights. Gliding through more relaxed yet hearty sundown records, the first 78 minutes (pack that disc, baby!) have the Chemical Brothers slating their psychedelic rock remix indulgences to great effect for Spiritualized's "I think I'm in love," while rubbing elbows with cocktail lounge label OM Records's Soulstice on "Lovely." Add in the plucked bass and impeccable cool of Bernard Leon Howard featuring 80 "Marscarter " to a host of other vocal cuts, and you've got a well-crafted warm-up. Labeled as westcoast and eastcoast sets, discs one and two really should be called "early evening get-up" and "post-peak moments." Yoshiesque 2, a sequel to - wait for it - Yoshiesque from two years back, deftly displays the men spinning two ends of the same story. Washington DC duo Ali `Dubfire' Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi are pretty much sitting on top of the progressive house mountain they helped build in the States, and this, their follow-up to Renaissance Ibiza, surely keeps them at the perch. So this would be them proving they were worth the Apple ad attention, then. ![]() Man Don't Cry (Mod Wheel Love You and Leave You Mix) Meat Katie No Daddy, Not the Whip M)Īlways Remember to Respect + Honor Your Mother, Pt.
